Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss wasn’t surprised that Ellen was coming to an end

While many fans were quite surprised to learn Ellen DeGeneres’ upcoming 19th season, her co-host and sidekick Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss was not surprised.

The 38-year-old dancer and choreographer opened up about Ellen’s exit in a new interview with ET Canada on Thursday.

Ellen revealed on Wednesday’s episode that she always knew the 19th season would be her last, with Boss adding that he’s excited to see what she does next.

When asked what the end of the show meant to him, Boss said, ‘It’s celebratory,’ adding, ‘Ellen has done incredible, incredible things over the years.’

‘Ellen herself and also the show has put in so much inspiration and changed people’s lives, and with this 19th season coming up, the finale season, that’s a time to celebrate and continue do to those things as well,’ he added. 

‘We have another year left to continue to bring inspiring stories, to dance, to laugh and do all of that, and take a look back,’ he added.

When asked if the announcement came as a surprise to him, tWitch added, ‘No, not really,’ adding that, two years ago she signed on for three more years and, ‘this upcoming year was the third year.

Boss became Ellen’s co-host and sidekick in 2014 and he’s been with her ever since, even joining Ellen on her NBC series Game of Games.

When asked how he thinks he’s grown professionally, Boss said there have been, ‘so many different things.’

‘With my new role as co-executive producer, I feel like I really get the full 360 degree experience of being with the show, not only in front of the camera but behind camera,’ he added.

He said that getting to be a part of the meetings deciding who will be on the show and the other experiences have been ‘incredible.’

When asked if a tWitch show is in the future, hosting it on his own, Boss said with a smile, ‘those are the conversations we’re having right now.’

He added he’s guest-hosting Ellen yet again, which will air later this summer, revealing it will be his 20th time guest-hosting.

‘I’m having a really good time in the chair, I’m really falling in love with the process, so absolutely,’ he said.
