  • The vinegar was poured into the sink and left for a few hours before she returned
  • The stain was then easily removed using a microfibre cloth without scrubbing

An organised mum-of-two known for sharing cleaning hacks with thousands online has revealed how to remove rust stains from stainless steel using white vinegar.

Carolina, from Perth, shared a video with her combined online following of more than 1.6 million people and removed a stain from the sink using the common pantry staple.

In the clip a yellow stain is visible on the rim of the drain, though this was easily lifted by filling the sink with vinegar and ensuring the mark was completely submerged.

Carolina left the vinegar in the sink for a few hours to allow a chemical reaction to occur, then drained the vinegar and used a microfibre cloth to rub away the rusty stain.
