UEFA have been labelled as ‘greedy’ by some supporters after deciding for Denmark’s Euro 2020 clash against Finland to be completed tonight despite Christian Eriksen collapsing when the game was initially played.

Denmark star Eriksen collapsed on the pitch in the closing stages of the first half at the Parken Stadium and required CPR, with the game being suspended.

The Danish FA tweeted to say that Eriksen is awake and in a stable condition in hospital. He will now undergo further examinations.

UEFA have been criticised by fans for allowing the game between Denmark and Finland to be completed tonight despite Christian Eriksen having collapsed when the fixture was initially being played

UEFA subsequently announced that, at the request of the players, the game between Denmark and Finland, which was goalless when it was suspended, will be completed tonight at 7.30 pm UK time.

This will avoid the need for further disruption to the tournament because the tight schedule would have made options to reschedule it tricky.

The final four minutes of the first half will be played, with a five-minute break to follow before the second half takes place.

That decision led to criticism from some supporters.

One individual wrote: ‘I can’t believe UEFA is actually going to finish this match tonight. Greedy monsters.’

Another wrote: ‘Cancel every game today man don’t be greedy for once, please.’

In addition, another wrote: ‘I just hope y’all fans who were calling Super League “greedy” can see that UEFA is the biggest of all greedy entity.’

Another person called for the tournament to be halted. They wrote: ‘How greedy can you be? Cancel this match, stop this tournament!’.

One fan wrote: ‘call me cynical but I’m not sure I believe UEFA when they say that the group of players who just suffered a hugely traumatic event have requested to restart the match a few hours later…’

Journalist Cristopher Mathias wrote: ‘Denmark players still crying while warming up to restart this game makes me think maybe they shouldn’t be restarting this game’.

Another individual wrote: ‘I think this is unfair on both sets of players to restart the game tonight.’
