The high-street sandwich store has brought back the Christmas favourite for summer, after being inundated with messages from people who missed out on it last December due to lockdown restrictions.

Customers will be able to pick up the iconic Christmas sandwich at Pret A Manger stores from July 6.

The lunchtime treat consists of thick slices of turkey in a port, orange and cranberry sauce, accompanied by a herby pork stuffing and baby spinach leaves, finished off with a dab of free-range mayonnaise and a sprinkling of crispy onions.

It will be available to buy at Pret stores nationwide until the first week of August.

The festive favourite then won’t return to shelves until Christmas 2021.

Slade lead singer, Noddy Holder, famous for 1973 Christmas classic ‘I wish it could be Christmas everyday,’ will be giving away 100 of the festive sandwiches to customers at Pret’s 182 Wardour store in London to mark the return of the Christmas favourite.

Pret is also set to share the recipe for its festive vegan nut roast alternative sandwich on social media.

The sandwich store is donating 50p from every turkey sandwich sold to The Pret Foundation, which aims to tackle homelessness.

Clare Clough, managing director of Pret a Manger, said: ‘Every year customers ask us for the Christmas sandwich to return earlier and earlier.

‘After many customers missed out on having one last year we’ve decided to stand by our mission of spreading joy through our food and coffee, and bring our iconic Christmas sandwich back early for a limited time this summer.

‘While we can’t change the weather or the football scores this summer, we can help people celebrate and recreate some festive joy by reuniting them with their favourite Christmas sandwich.’
