But on Tuesday night, Ed Sheeran said despite selling 150 million records since releasing his debut single The A Team, he will always be remembered for ‘his stinky feet’.
Speaking to Nova 96.9’s Smallzy Surgery, Ed recalled: ‘Looking back at when I wrote it versus where I am now – I had two pairs of socks I literally never washed my socks and just changed socks.’

‘I mean, if you’ve met anyone that knew me back then the one thing that everyone could agree on is my feet stank,’ he added with a laugh.
Ed, 30, explained that he was hopping from sofa to sofa playing shows anywhere that would he could.
‘Everyone was just like, if you put on paper, there’s a fat ginger boy that raps with a small guitar, do you want to sign him? F** no.’

‘I feel like it’s a big… Now people I have people say to me “but you must have always known” and I don’t think I knew,’ he continued.
Ed said that he feels his success was happened by ‘accident’.
‘Thinking Out Loud is one of the biggest songs that I’ve put out and that was meant to be a bonus track on the album,’ he said.
‘There’s so many things that have happened by accident or by chance…it’s been a mad journey like nothing feels planned or meant to be…it’s just kind of happened and now I’m here.’

Ed’s radio appearance comes just weeks after the singer was forced to correct a presenter on the UK’s One Show after she made several errors about his career in an awkward interview.
He sat down with presenters Alex Jones, and Ronan Keating, both 44, where he corrected the female presenter when she claimed he had eight million people attend his tour, when in fact it was nine million.
Alex began the interview by presenting Ed with a series of statistics about his career, which she described as ‘pretty off the scale’.

Again, Ed cut across Alex and said with a smile: ‘Nine, but…’ Ronan could also be heard in the background providing the correct figure.
