  •  Boston police officers recognized the 13-year-old girl as a missing person as she was walking in the Mattapan area at approximately 5:12 p.m.
  • The girl turned and walked away when officers approached her – the officers followed her down the street
  • The teen pivoted around wielding a STEAK KNIFE, and a struggle for the weapon ensued
  • In the process, Sergeant Detective John Boyle was stabbed in the elbow
  •  The girl, who was unidentified by police due to her juvenile status, faces charges for juvenile delinquency, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon

A 13-year-old girl allegedly stabbed a Boston police officer after he recognized her as a missing person and tried to bring her in. 

The girl, who has not been named because she is a minor, was walking on Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan at approximately 5:12 p.m. on Wednesday when she was spotted by Sergeant Detective John Boyle. 

Boyle told the Boston Globe that when the girl saw the officers approaching her, she turned on her heel and walked away.
