The Block’s Josh and Jenna list North Melbourne ‘forever home’

Former The Block stars Josh and Jenna Densten have listed their ‘forever home’.

They purchased the North Melbourne cottage several years ago and have renovated it extensively since then.

‘It was challenging in every way because we designed this as our forever home,’ Jenna told Domain of the renovations.

‘It was not a property we bought to flip, and our blood, sweat and tears have gone into every little detail,’ she added.

The Canning Street property features a landscaped courtyard and three bedrooms. 

‘The home was on a narrow site of five metres with a south-facing yard and no access,’ the couple wrote on their website last year.

‘The original cottage had a dodgy 1970s extension and the entire home was dark, damp and unloved.

‘Shortly after moving in we started plans to renovate.’ 

They wanted to create a self-contained studio separate from the main dwelling for Josh’s sister Kelli, who has a learning disability.

The Denstens also wanted to change the orientation to allow for north-facing light to shine through, because as it stood it was swathed in shade.

‘The concept was to turn the original two rooms of the cottage into a one-bedroom studio and separate the main dwelling by an internal courtyard to harness the north-facing light,’ they continued.

‘The cottage will sit towards the front of the block and the new dwelling will be at the rear.’

Josh and Jenna shot to fame on the fourth season of The Block in 2011.

They later returned for The Block: All Stars in 2013, before competing on the first season of Nine’s Reno Rumble in 2015.
