The house has four bedrooms as well as a number of large living areas which used to serve as shop floor space.

A unique feature of the exterior is a large rainbow ‘Yes’ artwork on the side, which was painted by the McLeods’ daughter during the marriage equality postal survey in 2017.

Brett said it was his daughter’s idea to paint the mural, which has since become a ‘tourist attraction’ in the area.

‘When the marriage equality vote was coming up, she asked if she and friend could paint a “Yes” on the wall – and we said, “Yes,”‘ he told realestate.com.au.

‘It has become something of a tourist attraction. Most weekends there’s someone taking a photo out the front of it.

‘Sometimes bridal parties turn up to get their photos done.’

The façade of the building still bears the original shop’s name, Shamrock Store, complete with blue tiling.

The dwelling was also previously an art gallery before becoming a home.

The McLeods, who have three grown-up children, Jackson, Alexander and Olivia, will now move to London after their Fitzroy home is auctioned off on August 14.
