Aussies roast American’s attempt at making fairy bread after she made one huge ‘mistake’

  • An American home cook has been slammed over her attempt at fairy bread
  • Alexandria from The Foreign Fork offended her fans by cutting the crust off
  • Australians wasted no time explaining the importance of the crusty outside edge

Alexandria, the home cook behind popular TikTok The Foreign Fork, she recently angered some of her Australian fans

An American cook has been slammed over her attempt to recreate fairy bread at home.

The Australian treat is made by spreading butter onto fresh bread and adding hundreds and thousands, which Alexandria from The Foreign Fork did.

But according to some the TikTok star made one crucial ‘mistake’ by cutting the crusts off the bread.

‘I am Australian and love fairy bread, the only thing that would make this better is leaving the crust on like we usually do,’ one woman said kindly.

‘Crusts on. Otherwise how can you hold onto it while you eat and wait for your turn on the jumping castle?’ one person laughed.

Others were more blunt with their criticism.

Yea, nah. We don’t cut the crusts off,’ one man said.

One tried to explain that the crust is actually the ‘handle’ and is important because it helps to avoid getting sprinkles everywhere.

In the video tutorial Alexandria begins by cutting off the crusts of her white bread before slathering each slice in butter.

She then cuts each slice into four triangles before dipping each piece into a bowl of hundreds and thousands.

The home cook said she had tried to do her research before making the dish but had ultimately ‘chosen wrong’.

‘I watched a YouTube video and she told me to cut them off, I am sorry,’ she wrote after being slammed.

‘Then I went in a chat room forum for fairy bread and they said it could go either way so I chose off. I chose wrong,’ she explained.

Some were less critical.

‘I kind of like the idea of crust off, it is more presentable, but I always remember them being served with crust on,’ one woman said.

But it appears she did do some things right.

‘I am just glad you cut them into triangles, gold star,’ one woman said.

Some said they had learned something from the video.

‘I have been making fairy bread for 40 years and never thought of dipping the bread into the sprinkles,’ one mum said.

‘Dipping is genius, so much easier than sprinkling it on! Thankyou,’ said another.
