Boy, 13, who suffered brain injury at two days old leaves This Morning viewers in hysterics

A boy who suffered a catastrophic brain injury at just two days old won over the hearts of the nation after renaming presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield ‘Bob and Cheryl’ on This Morning.

Oliver Voysey, 13, from Newcastle upon Tyne, who was left blind, with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and learning difficulties after his brain injury, first appeared on the ITV show back in January where he told how he had launched a campaign to save an activity centre for disabled people. 

He set about raising money for the Lake District Calvert Trust activity centre, which allows people with disabilities to enjoy the benefits of outdoor activities in a safe and accessible, yet challenging environment – and has since smashed his target of £25,000 by raising a whopping £248,000.

And viewers were left in hysterics by Oliver when he appeared on the show for a second time today, after interrupting the interview to show off his saber-toothed tiger impression.

‘This interview with Oliver is total chaos but I love it,’ wrote one, while a second penned: ‘This is my favourite interview, EVER!!!!!’  

A third branded the segment of the show the ‘best moment ever,’ while a fourth added: ‘Oliver on #ThisMorning is so precious.’ 

As soon as the interview started, Oliver asked: ‘Who is there?’ to which Holly replied: ‘It’s Holly and Phil.’ 

He then asked ‘who said that?’ to which his mother Sarah questioned: ‘Who do you think said that – Holly or Phil?’

In response, Oliver shouted out ‘Cheryl!’ with Holly then reminding viewers that the teen had renamed her last time he appeared on the show. 

She added: ‘It hasn’t stuck annoyingly. People do keep calling me Holly. I do keep correcting them!’

Oliver giggled: ‘The comedian is here!’ 

Holly went on to ask Oliver’s mother Sarah about the importance of raising money to keep the Calvert Trust open – which lost nearly £1million in income due to the pandemic and was threatened with closure during lockdown.

‘It was unbelievably important to us,’ said Sarah. ‘I don’t think we realised until it was at threat of closure that we would not only miss it, but that our lives would be totally different without it. So yeah, we just wanted to do everything we could to save it – not just for us but for the other families as well.  

‘So yeah when Oliver’s birthday came up in January he asked if he could save it for his birthday present.’

After the presenters confirmed the Lake District Calvert Trust activity centre reopened in June, Oliver chimed in: ‘I want to do a saber-toothed tiger impression.’ 

Leaving the presenters impressed, Oliver then added: ‘He wants to eat you!’ before going on to do an impression of a woolly mammoth.

‘He wants to eat Bob and Cheryl,’ he joked.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: ‘I’m cracked up at this Oliver kid, hero,’ while a second commented: ‘I love Oliver more and more every time he’s on #ThisMorning. He is gorgeous.’

A third wrote: ‘Oliver has made my day.’
