A pensioner supped white wine out of a water bottle behind the wheel – after police pulled her over for drink driving.
Elizabeth Mary Davies, 67, from Audenshaw, Tameside, was found to be more than twice over the drink-drive limit.
She was spotted in a car park in Glossop town centre in Manchester on July 22 appearing unsteady on her feet.

At 5.38pm when police arrived, she told them she was ok and denied that she had been drinking.
Prosecutor David Morgan told Stockport Magistrates Court that officers initially took her at her word.
‘They followed her for a short distance, and then she pulled over,’ he said.

After coming to a stop on Glossop Road in Gamesley, Davies admitted to police that she was under the influence of alcohol.
Mr Morgan added: ‘She denied drinking, but then said she had had two glasses of wine.
‘She took a sip of a water bottle, which was in fact white wine.’

Police breathalysed Davies and found that she had 90 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath – more than double the maximum of 35.
Davies, of Audenshaw, Tameside, has a previous conviction from 2012 for drink driving.
She represented herself at the short sentencing hearing.

‘I just feel so terrible and so ashamed of myself,’ she said.
‘There’s not much more I can say, really.’
Davies was sentenced to a three-year driving ban, a 12-month community order and 70 hours of unpaid work at Stockport Magistrates Court (pictured). She will have to undertake 20 rehabilitation days and pay £85 in costs and a £95 victim surcharge
Davies was given full credit for her early guilty plea on August 23 by Mr Drake.
