AFL superstar Luke Hodge fetches over $3 million for his stunning Glen Iris family home after making a permanent move to Queensland


 AFL superstar Luke Hodge has secured a premium price for his family home in Glen Iris before it even went to auction.

The Hawthorn great is estimated to have fetched more than $3.38 million for the two-storey home, reports Realestate.com.au.

Hodge, 37, and his family sold the property after making a permanent move to Queensland following his final two seasons with the Brisbane Lions.

The early sale of the stunning pad allowed the Hodges’ to purchase in Brisbane, according to selling agent Damien Davis from Jellis Craig Boroondara.

‘The vendors are ecstatic with the end result – it allows them to purchase in Brisbane,’ Davis added. 

Hodge, who purchased the property in 2009 for $1.46 million, was initially hoping to get between $2.9 to $3.1 million for the home.

However, he lucked out with an early offer from a buyer that far exceeded the price guide – believed to be above the $3.38 million mark, which translates to almost a two million dollar profit disregarding inflation.

The footballer’s luxury family home features five oversized bedrooms plus study, two bathrooms and a wide garage that fits two vehicles.

A series of impressively striking living spaces are built inside along with a central staircase, a palatial main bedroom retreat with sun terrace, reception hall, large kitchen with stone bench tops, games room and sitting domain.

The backyard includes an alfresco entertainment zone, outdoor pool and sauna.

‘The Hodges are massive entertainers and hopefully the new owners can carry on the tradition,’ added Davis.

‘It’s a wonderful home for hosting people with the alfresco area and the deck.’ 

Luke Hodge is an footy veteran who notched four premierships and 305 games for the Hawthorn Hawks.

He captained the side to three of their premiership wins between 2013-2015 and won the Norm Smith medal in both the 2008 and 2014 grand final. 

He later made the move to the Brisbane Lions before retiring in 2019.
