Shaquille O’Neal sells lakefront mega mansion for $11M – after slashing $17M off his original price

Shaquille O’Neal has sold his lakefront mega mansion in Florida for $11 million – and it comes complete with luxury additions including an aquarium room, a super-size 15-foot round bed and a full-scale indoor basketball court.

He originally listed the home for $28 million in 2018, later dropping the asking price to $16.5 million before it was eventually sold for $11 million – $17M off his original asking price.

The NBA star, 49, purchased the 12-bedroom property in Isleworth, Lake Butler, in 1993 for $3.95 million – but has since made some incredible custom changes.

Located in a gated golf community near Disney World Orlando, the huge home is 31,000 square feet and spread across three acres.

It includes 12 bedrooms, 15 baths, and a chef’s kitchen with Viking, Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances.

Interior design details of the house include marble flooring, a dual mahogany wood staircase and mahogany tray ceilings.

Over the years, Shaq made some unique changes to several rooms – including a temperature-controlled, cedar-planked humidor and wine storage, and an aquarium room with hieroglyphics on the walls and a saltwater triangular fish tank.

He also had a true-to-size mural of a red tractor-trailer built in one room, complete with a Superman logo – which is famously Shaq’s nickname – on the grill.

But after struggling to sell the house for more than three years, he swapped his eccentric flair for more traditional home decor.

A 15-foot round bed frame – with Superman bedspread – was removed from the master bedroom suite and replaced with a regular-shaped bed with non-superhero themed linens.

Superman logos also disappeared from the wall of the property’s NBA-certified basketball court. And the hero’s movie posters were taken down from the ten-seat movie theater.

The basketball player – who played for the NBA for 19 years but now works as a sports analyst on the television program Inside the NBA – made a $7.05 million profit on the house.

After playing college basketball for the LSU Tigers, Shaq was drafted by the Orlando Magic in 1992. He quickly became one of the best players in the league, winning Rookie of the Year in 1992 and 1993, and he lead his team to the 1995 NBA Finals.

Over the years, he also played for the LA Lakers, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. In addition to his basketball career, the sports star has also released four rap albums, appeared in numerous films, and starred in his own reality shows.
