According to a new poll, these are the ‘must haves’ for homeowners aged under 35. 

A ‘sense of privacy’ is the top priority for a perfect home. 

Magnolia colour schemes, conservatories and being near a supermarket are way down the list.

While the study found that a quarter of those polled would like to buy a home that is near a gym or fitness studio, 18 per cent want a good butcher near by, 17 per cent would like a farm shop handy, and the same number say that an artisan bakery in their area is essential.

The poll, for St Modwen Homes, found that 58 per cent of respondents admit they think they have much higher standards than previous generations. 

Nearly 40 per cent would be put off buying a property if it required lots of work, while 44 per cent want to buy a home that can be personalised before they move in.
