Some of Manchester United’s unsettled stars are open to delaying decisions on their futures amid the club’s search for a new manager – though Jesse Lingard’s position remains unchanged despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure.
A number of United players grew increasingly frustrated at their lack of action under Solskjaer and his refusal to rotate his squad despite poor results and the underperformance of some of their preferred team-mates.
But Solskjaer’s exit has offered fresh hope to the likes of Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson, Anthony Martial, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles and Diogo Dalot.

On parting with Solskjaer and installing Michael Carrick as caretaker, United announced their initial intention to appoint an interim manager after Carrick to lead the club until the end of the season.
While an interim boss may not force a rethink among United’s unhappy stars, with any stand-in’s influence only short term, a permanent manager could.
And the prospect of United securing their next long-term manager now rather than just an interim has emerged with PSG head coach and leading United target Mauricio Pochettino interested in succeeding Solskjaer immediately.
An improvement in their game-time and playing prospects under a permanent manager would then leave many of those players who were previously eyeing the exit, ready to reconsider their own plans. Lingard, though, is understood to be unmoved by the change of manager.

Lingard, who is out of contract next summer, is among a group of United players who feel they were misled by Solskjaer over the amount of playing time they would receive.
Sportsmail reported last week how he wanted to leave following a breakdown in contract talks, had no plans to restart negotiations and his stance is unchanged despite the latest developments at Old Trafford.
The 28 year-old has made just one Premier League start all season, his lack of action cost him his place in the latest England squad and he is desperate to play regularly ahead of next year’s World Cup.
Lingard has significant interest in England and abroad though suggestions he is already planning for a move to West Ham, where he enjoyed a successful half-season loan spell last term, have been played down.
