Borussia Dortmund are reported to be ready to pull out all of the stops to prevent Erling Haaland leaving in a cut-price deal this summer.

The Norwegian superstar is set to be the most in-demand player in world football at the end of the campaign, once his £64million release clause comes into operation.

Yet Dortmund are not ready to cash in on the prolific 21-year-old, and are now placing what could prove to be an irresistible offer on the table, according to Sky Germany.

Erling Haaland is set to be presented with lucrative terms to extend with Borussia Dortmund

It is claimed that Dortmund are ready and willing to double Haaland’s current earnings – reported to be in the region of £7.5m – to around £15m.

Crucially however, Dortmund will insist on Haaland’s bargain £64m release clause being delayed by another season, meaning it will not come into activation until the summer of 2023.

It is said that Dortmund have taken inspiration from rivals RB Leipzig, who carried out a similar negotiation with their star former star defender Dayot Upamecano.

The Frenchman’s exit clause of 42.5 million euros was included for 2021 instead of 2022, as Leipzig made him extend for a further season before ultimately selling him to Bayern Munich.

At present Haaland finds himself sidelined until the new year, after struggling with a reoccurring hip injury for Dortmund this season.

Despite this, however, he is still the club’s top scorer with a quite remarkable margin.

Haaland has been linked with almost all of European football’s top clubs, with Manchester United, City and Chelsea showing heavy interest from the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have also been mentioned in the same breath as Haaland, with many pundits urging the Reds to make a claim for the player while his release clause provides a rare chance to compete with the wealthiest clubs on the planet for his signature.
