Holly Willoughby brings her new puppy Bailey to This Morning

She recently revealed that her family have welcomed a new adorable golden retriever puppy called Bailey, who took care of her when she was sick last week.

And Holly Willoughby delighted This Morning fans on Wednesday as she brought her new puppy to work, with the star announcing: ‘Delighted to introduce you to the newest member of my family.’

As she showed off the pooch, the presenter, 40, revealed that she’d ‘barely slept’ since getting Bailey, adding that having her first dog is a ‘steep learning curve’.

At the start of the show, Bailey was seen lying in between Holly and co-star Phillip Schofield, with Holly saying: ‘We’ve got a very special visitor here in the studio today.

‘I’m delighted to introduce you to the newest member of my family… this is Bailey.’

The pup didn’t seem as excited as Holly as she lay snoozing on the sofa, with Holly asking Bailey: ‘are you gonna say hello?’

She soon got Bailey’s attention with a pink squeaky toy, with Holly evidently delighted at being a new dog owner.

She later said: ‘I’ve never had a dog before in my life so this is a really steep learning curve. I’ve got Bluebell the cat, I’ve barely slept, I’ve got the baby bag. I’ve overthought this ridiculously.’

While Phil, 59, said of the dog: ‘She’s incredibly chilled’.

During the show, Holly asked the resident vet Dr Scott advice on her new puppy, with the presenter asking him how to get her ‘lazy’ dog to move as she refuses to go for walks.

The star also admitted that she’s having problems toilet training her dog, as she revealed: ‘It’s a little tricky over night. I wake up to a little present in the morning.’

On Friday, Holly gushed that her household was ‘completely in love’ with their furry friend and that having the dog around had helped her get through her recent tummy bug that saw her unable to present This Morning.

She wrote on her Wylde Moon website: ‘Bailey has come in and pushed a giant paw-shaped, reset button for all us…and of course we are completely in love.’

Holly recalled of her family’s journey to get the pup: ‘My daughter has been campaigning for us to get a dog since she was able to talk, and we have been waiting for the right time for a dog to fit into our family life.

‘Now, is that time. This little ball of scrumptious energy bounded into our world and immediately made us question why on earth we have waited so long. She’s been brilliant for getting us all out of the house, going on long walks and playing in the garden.

‘During lockdown, the kids gravitated to being on screens more than normal, but Bailey has come in and pushed a giant paw-shaped, reset button for all us…and of course we are completely in love.

‘Last week I was struck down with a tummy bug and for 48 hours I was really not in a very good way. I couldn’t take the kids to school, I couldn’t go to work and I couldn’t take the dog for a walk, but that didn’t stop Bailey lovingly sitting at my feet all day long.’

She continued: ‘I didn’t have the heart to tell her that the slight smell of dog food was doing nothing for my swirling nausea, but nonetheless, just having her there made me feel so much better.’

Holly had been absent from This Morning last week after the stomach bug forced her to miss three days of filming.
