Sergio Ramos’ PSG injury hell continues as defender picks up muscle problem one week on from debut

Sergio Ramos is out injured AGAIN as his PSG fitness hell continues with a new muscle problem… just a week after he finally made his debut for Mauricio Pochettino’s side following free transfer from Real Madrid

  • Sergio Ramos is set to miss PSG’s trip to Lens this weekend through injury
  • The 35-year-old only made his debut against Saint-Etienne last Sunday
  • His first five months at the Parc des Princes have been spent on the sidelines
  • Now a new muscle fatigue problem has put him back in the treatment room

Sergio Ramos has sustained yet another injury which will rule him out of PSG’s clash with Lens on Saturday, just a week after making his long-awaited debut for the club.

Ramos, 35, moved to the Parc des Princes on a free transfer in the summer after calling time on his iconic 16-year stint at Real Madrid.

Yet so far his time in the French capital has been spent almost entirely on the sidelines, with a calf problem preventing him from featuring all the way until last Sunday.

After completing 90 minutes in PSG’s 3-1 win away at Saint-Etienne, the Spain defender was then absent in Wednesday’s 0-0 draw at home to Nice, and the club have now confirmed he is nursing a new muscle injury.

Ramos, who is said to be undergoing a special training regime to help with the latest setback, will return to training with his team-mates on Sunday.

Ander Herrera is also due to start training again at the end of the week, while Julian Draxler will be back in the next two to three weeks.

But PSG remain in the dark over the extent of Neymar’s ankle injury, which he picked up in the win at Saint-Etienne.

The Brazilian is undergoing treatment at their Camp des Loges training centre and will discover how serious his problem is next week.

Ramos’ latest setback may well be the most frustrating of all for Pochettino, given he managed to complete a full game against Saint-Etienne without any major problems.

After handing him his debut, the PSG boss said: ‘Ramos was very happy. The last 15 minutes were hard. He is more tired than normal, he has gone a long time without playing.

‘We will see tomorrow if he is able to enter (the squad).’

Pochettino will hope Ramos’ new knock is not a serious one, with Club Brugge to come in their final Champions League group stage outing on Tuesday.
