An Ohio couple’s newborn daughter – their fourth child – came into the world in the most unique way on Friday.

Ryan Emge, from Cincinnati, Ohio, assisted his wife, Kelli, in giving birth to newborn Rebecca in the passenger seat of their car while they were driving to Mercy Health Fairfield Hospital, according to reports.

‘I had kind of a freak-out and I was like, ‘Honey, do you want me to pull over? What do I do here?’ And she’s like, ‘No, keep going, we need to get to the hospital,’ Ryan told local news outlet FOX 19. ‘The baby started coming out, so I just reached over with my hand and I caught the baby.’

The father-of-three said his wife Kelli ‘took her seatbelt off, put her knees on the seat facing the back and started giving birth in the passenger seat while I was driving on the highway.’

Rebecca came out in her father’s hand, and he carefully put her down onto the seat below, deployed as a cradle.

Emge went on to praise his wife’s composure, saying it is ‘the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen. She just handled the whole thing.’

Dressed in a pink onesie with white spots on it, baby Rebecca was sound asleep in her mother’s arm, probably tired from the unexpected way she decided to come into the world.

‘Rebecca made it evident that she was coming and not waiting,’ her mother Kelli, who teaches French, said.

Meanwhile, another unusual birth coincidentally took place on the same day in a different part of Cincinnati.

Kenariye Delaney said that she’s always wanted to give birth at home.

‘But I didn’t expect it to happen that way,’ she said.

For the past week, Delaney said she had gone through several days of false labor.

However, she knew the baby was ready to come on Friday, so her partner called an ambulance. Their newborn, on the other hand, didn’t want to wait.

‘He came within five minutes of that phone call,’ Kenariye said.

Two minutes later, the ambulance arrived to provide medical assistance.

Both families said they’re grateful that they’re healthy after welcoming their latest family additions.
