Woman uses Apple AirTags to hunt down stolen Christmas inflatables after someone took them from yard

A woman used her Apple AirTag trackers to hunt down her stolen Christmas inflatables after someone took them from her yard at two in the morning – and the internet was enthralled by the story.

A TikToker from Texas, who is named Nyssa and goes by the username @latoxicanys on the app, explained in a now-viral video that she decided to put Apple AirTags on her Christmas inflatables because a neighbor’s had recently been taken.

Apple AirTags are devices designed to help keep track of items you often misplace – like your keys or your wallet. You can attach them to almost anything, and using the app, you can then see where the item is located at all times.

Nyssa revealed that she was in for a shock when she woke up one morning and discovered that her giant inflatables – which included ones that looked like the Grinch and his dog Max, as well as one that was shaped like a Christmas tree – were suddenly missing from her front yard.

Thankfully, she had thought ahead by installing the Apple AirTrags, and was able to use the trackers to quickly locate them.

She went to the address and saw what appeared to be her inflatables sitting in the yard of an apartment building, as well as others that she believed to also be stolen.

Nyssa said she called the cops, but unfortunately, they couldn’t do anything to help her because they knocked on the person’s home and no one was home.

She shared the story on TikTok and it quickly went viral, gaining more than eight million views in a matter of days.

Thankfully, after her video caused quite the stir on the internet, Nyssa revealed that the thieves returned the inflatables because she said they were ‘scared’ of all the attention.

‘We put trackers on our Christmas inflatables. They were stolen this morning at 2 A.M.’ Nyssa wrote in the clip.

‘We went to the address of the trackers and called the cops. These are all the stolen inflatables we came across,’ she continued, while showing off all the different inflatables that she found in the alleged robber’s yard. ‘Cops couldn’t do anything.’

‘Freakin’ losers,’ she captioned it.

In another video, she shared surveillance footage of the exact moment the inflatables were taken.

It appeared to be captured by a neighbor’s Ring doorbell camera, and it showed two dark figures coming into her yard and grabbing the inflatables.

Naturally, people flooded the comment section with their thoughts on the debacle, and many people slammed the police for not helping her.

Others said Nyssa should have taken the inflatables back without getting authorities involved at all.

One person wrote, ‘Take it back anyways. It’s not stealing, it’s retrieving one of your misplaced belongings.’

‘Steal them back bro,’ someone else said. ‘What are they gonna do, call the cops?’

Another added: ‘I would’ve knifed those inflatables, ain’t no one enjoying my stuff.’

‘People steal Christmas inflatables? Sad life,’ a fourth comment read.

‘I love how cops will give a high schooler a ticket for going five over but won’t aid in getting in stolen items – even with footage and tracker proof,’ another TikTok user replied.

One final commenter added, ‘The Apple tracker in the inflatable should be enough proof it’s yours.’

At Home Depot, Grinch Christmas inflatables range in price anywhere from $30 for a four foot one to $185 for a nine foot one.

Since it’s hard to tell exactly how big Nyssa’s were, it’s unclear how much she spent on the inflatables.

Thankfully, she updated her followers a day later and revealed that she had them back in her possession.

‘Update. Grinch is back,’ she wrote next to a photo of it sitting in her yard again.

In the comment section, she claimed that the robbers eventually returned the inflatables because they discovered her TikTok video and got spooked.

‘Long story short… They realized there was too much heat on them because of the TikTok and I made a [Facebook] post,’ she said. ‘Got scared.’
