Barcelona WILL terminate the loan of Yusuf Demir… with youngster set to return to Rapid Vienna

Barcelona ‘WILL terminate the loan of Yusuf Demir’, with the highly-rated 18-year-old set to return to Rapid Vienna, as Xavi’s cash-strapped side opt against a permanent £8.5m deal… and now Borussia Dortmund are showing interest in the winger

  • Demir has made nine appearances in all competitions since joining Barcelona
  • Wonderkid will return to Rapid Vienna next month with his loan being cut short
  • The 18-year-old is attracting interest from a number of Bundesliga clubs

Barcelona will look to terminate the contract of wonderkid Yusuf Demir and cut short his season-long loan move, according to Sport.

It was previously reported the 18-year-old was set for a spell on the sidelines as the club looked to avoid paying an £8.5million release clause in the players contract, which would mean signing him on a permanent deal, should he make one more appearance.

The Austria international has featured nine times in all competitions since arriving from parent club Rapid Vienna, and one more would trigger the fee. Barcelona had the option to sign the player permanently in June, but will opt not to execute it.

A third of his appearances have resulted in just 15 minutes of football, with his latest coming in the 3-0 thrashing by Bayern Munich in the group stages earlier this month.

Prior to that, the highly-rated star played just nine-minutes in the 3-0 victory over Levante in September, before featuring for just two minutes in a 1-0 win against Espanyol last month.

Demir came on to the scene under former head coach Ronald Koeman who gave him the chance to shine during pre-season. Having impressed, the youngster was fast-tracked from Barca B to the first-team.

The Austrian has not being a regular under Xavi, however, but the forward did impress in the 0-0 draw against Benfica at the Nou Camp in Europe’s elite competition, hitting the crossbar in the match.

Several Bundesliga sides are interested in his services, with Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt all running the rule over the youngster.

Demir will likely join the side who is prepared to pay the €10million (£8.5million) release clause in his contract this January, with Rapid prepared to let him leave, as he pursues first team football.

Barcelona are set for a busy January when it comes to outgoings, as well as Demir, both Philippe Coutinho and Samuel Umtiti are also surplus to requirements and expected to leave.
