Chelsea fans lay into loanee Saul Niguez after poor performance in Everton draw

‘We signed him to cost us a title race!’: Chelsea fans lay into loanee Saul Niguez after Atletico Madrid man failed to impress in Everton draw

  • Saul Niguez arrived at Chelsea on a season-long loan deal in the summer
  • The Spaniard has yet failed to establish himself in the regular match day XI
  • Saul was introduced on Thursday night as the Blues were held by Everton
  • In the aftermath fans singled out the new boy for very specific criticism

Chelsea fans wasted little time in singling out Saul Niguez for criticism after their side stuttered in the title race on Thursday night, drawing at home to Everton.

The Blues went ahead in the tie courtesy of Mason Mount, though allowed Rafa Benitez’s side back into the contest late on.

Summer signing Saul Niguez was introduced as a substitute, but contributed little as Everton put up a fight and equalised through Jarrad Branthwaite.

Following the final whistle, multiple fans took to social media to air their grievances about Saul, with few pulling no punches.

One disgruntled fan took to Twitter and tweeted: ‘Genuinely Saul might be the worst player in the entire league.

A second soon added: ‘We signed Saul on a loan just for him to cost us a title race. I’m tired.’

The sentiment was shared by many, with several fans of the opinion that he should no longer be offered the chance to prove himself at Stamford Bridge.

Others added: ‘Not even bothering talking about Saul at this point, it’s laughable how he’s here and getting minutes.

‘Saul. Seriously. Don’t ever wear a Chelsea shirt again.’

The result sees Chelsea sit third in the table, three points behind rivals Liverpool in second and four behind City in top spot.
