David Beckham has reportedly splashed out £5million on a yacht which he’s said to have helped design.
The football legend, 46, was said to have ‘treated himself’ to the luxury vessel after being inspired by his maritime jaunts with Elton John and David Furnish – who often holiday at sea.
According to The Sun, David plans to set sail on his new boat in the New Year and sail around with wife Victoria, 47, and their kids.

A source told the publication: ‘David had a look around some yachts in the summer, and decided to treat himself. He helped design the boat himself, and has been incredibly hands-on with everything.
‘It’s not an oligarch-stylee super-yacht, but it’s still pretty plush by anyone’s standards. He was inspired after holidaying with Elton and David on their boat – and loves life on the water.
‘There will be an area for the kids to snorkel, and the boat will be a brilliant base for the whole Beckham clan to have magical holidays abroad.’
It is said that the sportsman bought a Ferretti following a visit to the Italian shipyard’s HQ in Forli back in the summer.

David’s yacht is expected to be ready ‘within weeks’ after the final few touches have been made.

In June this year, David was spotted checking out a 110ft £10million superyacht in the port of La Spezia after jetting out to Italy to tour the luxury vessel.
The father-of-four is said to have met officials from Italian shipbuilding company Ferretti during his recent stay.

In a video shared to Gazzetta della Spezia’s YouTube on June 8, it sees David receive a tour of the four-year-old superyacht Telli which is worth a staggering £10million.
However, it seems David has opted for a less pricier vessel for his sailing adventures.

The yacht news comes just days after David looked as pleased as punch as he took his brand new Maserati MC20 (which he designed himself) for a spin in a sleek advert for the Italian car brand.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the former footballer unveiled the new advert which was filmed in Miami, Florida, with the star seen zipping through the streets in his custom built motor.
Though a professional driver did most of the high-speed stunts, David still looked effortlessly cool as he got behind the wheel to film vast sections of the commercial.

Meanwhile, ahead of sharing the new advert, David expressed his excitement of adding the slick new sportscar to his collection, explaining to fans that he designed it himself.
Filming himself in Miami ahead of receiving the vehicle, the Maserati ambassador said: ‘About a year ago I actually designed my MC20 with Maserati in Italy. And funnily enough we’re in Miami and it has just arrived!’
Elsewhere over on his Instagram stories, the Inter Miami FC co-owner shared a clip of his reaction to his new ride, with the star saying to the camera: ‘Unbelievable.
