Alison, 46, then emerges singing in a dramatic voice with lots of high notes, sporting a long angelic white gown as she is followed by Amanda, 50, miming along to a child’s voice, looking stunning in a daring red off-the-shoulder dress.

The show sees performers try and trick the panel into believing they can sing, even if they can’t.

Both Paddy and Amanda revealed that Mariah’s classic hit is their favourite Christmas song, with Amanda saying: ‘I don’t think it will ever get old and as soon as you hear the first few seconds of the song, I think it makes you smile.’

Speaking on the special, she added: ‘The response to series one was completely overwhelming and unexpected. So many young people I work with were glued to the show every week.

‘I’m thrilled we are back with not only a Christmas special but also a second series next year too!

‘It’s the perfect show to watch over Christmas and there is everything in there that you’d expect. We are dressed up to the nines! We have Christmas songs. Paddy, Alison, Jimmy and I are even doing a bit of a skit.

Guest: Paddy echoed: 'It¿s a really fun Christmas show! We¿ve got Leona Lewis on the show which for me is the best thing ever because her voice is so powerful and she¿s so lovely!'

‘The whole show feels like the old days when the whole family sat down and watched TV and eat and drank together.’

Paddy echoed: ‘It’s a really fun Christmas show! We’ve got Leona Lewis on the show which for me is the best thing ever because her voice is so powerful and she’s so lovely! I think of her at Christmas time because she released a Christmas song and her voice reminds me of Mariah Carey’s and Mariah sang All I Want For Christmas Is You.

‘All the mystery singers are dressed up in Christmas themed outfits, so that’s lovely. Gabby Logan is also helping our contestant Dev and he’s a fan of hers, so that’s a great surprise.

‘And because it’s Christmas… we all lip sync at the top of the show – me, Jimmy, Amanda and Alison!’

I Can See Your Voice Christmas Special airs on Friday 24th December at 9.30pm on BBC One and iPlayer
