The REAL reason why I’m A Celebrity survived Channel 10’s lay-offs… as Poh Ling Yeow is announced as the new star joining the 2022 season

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here Australia is proving to be one of Channel Ten’s most popular and successful reality shows.

And now, hosts Julia Morris and Chris Brown have revealed the reason why the series will never be axed and survived the network’s brutal round of job cuts last year.

The duo told The Binge Guide, the series is a hit because none of the celebrities have regretted the experience except tennis star Bernard Tomic, who quit after just three days.

‘He wasn’t there for a long time but he’s provided us with plenty of talking points since then,’ Chris said.

‘I believe he wants to have another go to prove he can do it. And what an amazing comeback it would be if he did.’

Chris also admitted he’s surprised by how many celebrities fail to research what they are getting themselves into.

‘Tom Arnold was convinced they would go to a hotel at the weekend. Then there are people who think that when we stopped filming in the evening that the pizzas, burgers and snacks would come in,’ he said.

It comes after it was announced MasterChef’s Poh Ling Yeow has joined the cast of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia for 2022.

The 47-year-old confirmed the news to The Daily Telegraph on Saturday, saying that she found the jungle based show ‘challenging’.

‘It was healthy though – feeling comfortable and content is overrated,’ she told the paper, adding that she was ‘bossy’ and took over the cooking.

‘I feel like you don’t learn much when you are not challenged. That’s one of the reasons I went on there – it’s really healthy to be challenged on many levels all the time, so I kind of welcomed that,’ she added.
