‘I’ll beat you from bell to bell, pray for merciful ref!’: Michael Chandler warns Tony Ferguson over his call out and admits he only respects his rival due to his ‘tenure’ and not his ‘current stature’

Michael Chandler gave short thrift to Tony Ferguson this week, when his UFC rival suggested the possibility of facing him inside the Octagon.
Taking to social media this week Chandler entertained the idea of facing the biggest star in mixed martial arts, Conor McGregor. Which was not at all greeted kindly by Ferguson.
Chandler had put out a tweet stating that fans wanted to see him go toe-to-toe with the Irishman, while tagging Conor McGregor in for good measure in hope that ‘the Notorious’ would engage.

Seeing the exchange, Ferguson replied: ‘There’s my b****!
‘UFC relayed your message saying you would be ready for me April / June. Looks like you’re trying to delay that ass-whoopin’ I owe ya for cutting in line, kid.
‘It’s wrestling season, MF. Man up — Champ.’
Ferguson made a huge shown of flagging up Chandler’s willingness to fight somebody else, likely as a tactic of public humiliation.

Taking the bait, Chandler promptly responded: ‘Oh Tony. There’s only a handful of guys in this game I truly respect…you’re one of them.
‘Only because of your tenure, not your stature or your current presence in the division. I’ll beat you from bell to bell. Pray for a merciful ref. We shall see if this fight happens.’
Chandler clearly has one eye on McGregor’s situation, given that the Dubliner is on the comeback trail from a broken leg he sustained in his trilogy bout with rival Dustin Poirier.
McGregor is expected to be back competing inside Dana White’s Octagon in July, and fighters are queuing up to take on the sport’s biggest money-spinning star.
Despite collecting multiple defeats in previous years, McGregor remains top billing at the current titan of UFC Charles Oliveira is still set on fighting him, despite protestations from the likes of Justin Gaethje.
All eyes are on Conor McGregor who is poised for a comeback inside the Octagon in July
