Brighton ‘will demand £50m for Yves Bissouma if they decide to sell this month’

Brighton ‘will demand £50MILLION for Yves Bissouma if they decide to sell this month’ with Aston Villa and a host of Premier League clubs interested in the Mali midfielder, who has just 18 months left on his deal

  • Brighton’s Yves Bissouma is attracting a number of clubs including Aston Villa
  • The 25-year-old midfielder has 18 months remaining on his current contract
  • But Brighton aren’t keen to sell him ‘unless a bid of around £50million is made’

Aston Villa remain interested in Brighton’s Yves Bissouma but the Seagulls are in no rush to sell the midfielder, according to reports.

Bissouma is enjoying yet another successful campaign on the south coast but he’s now into the last 18 months of his contract and has been linked with a move to Villa.

With Marvelous Nakamba injured for three months and Douglas Luiz also approaching the final 18 months of his deal, Villa boss Steven Gerrard is keen to shore up his midfield this month.

According to The Athletic, Brighton are under no pressure to sell their prized asset but their stance may change if an offer of around £50million is made.

They also report that despite their interest, Villa are yet to launch a bid for the Mali midfielder and they’re not the only side interested, with a host of other Premier League clubs keen on the player.

When asked if any clubs have spoken to him about the 25-year-old, Brighton boss Graham Potter said: ‘Nope’.

He added: ‘Who knows. It’s the transfer window, you never know.

‘We are comfortable with where we are at, we know the situation. From my perspective, I will just try to help him when he comes back from the AFCON and help him get back to his best. When he does that, he is a top player.

‘We want to keep all our players but I also understand the way the market is and the way football is. We understand where we are in the football football pyramid.

‘You know that things can happen but my expectation is that we will have a strong squad come the end of the transfer window.’

Since joining Brighton from Lille in 2018, Bissouma has become one of the Premier League’s outstanding midfielders due to his ability to shield the ball in front of the defence, break up play and advance with the ball.

Aston Villa have already snapped up former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona on loan for the rest of the season. They currently sit 13th in the table and will take on Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup on Monday.
