  • Mexican brand Corona suffered a marketing nightmare over the last two years

But the brewer’s unfairly tarnished reputation could be given a feelgood boost with its new alcohol-free lager that is bursting with a sunshine vitamin.

Adverts for Sunbrew – to be launched in the UK later this year – show bikini-clad models sipping ice-cold bottles with Corona’s signature slice of lime.

Corona hailed its new drink as a breakthrough after facing a series of challenges getting vitamin D into beer.

Research and development chief Brad Weaver said: ‘The journey was not easy as vitamin D is sensitive to oxygen and light and not easily soluble in water.

‘But thanks to ongoing research, our team created the only non-alcoholic beer with vitamin D.’

The Mexican firm’s global vice-president Felipe Ambra said: ‘The feeling of the sun is one of the things that people love most about the outdoors and the Corona brand is always innovating to remind them of that feeling.’
