Chelsea ‘in talks over loan deal for PSG left back Layvin Kurzawa’ as Thomas Tuchel seeks to bolster his defensive options with Ben Chilwell out for the rest of the season

  • Layvin Kurzawa has played 153 games since joining from Monaco in 2015
  • But 29-year-old has fallen out of favour at PSG under Mauricio Pochettino
  • Chelsea turned to Kurzawa after failing to recall Emerson Palmieri from Lyon

Chelsea have opened talks with Paris St Germain over a loan deal for defender Layvin Kurzawa, according to reports in France.

Thomas Tuchel is keen to reunite with the 29-year-old left back after Ben Chilwell suffered a long-term knee injury and Lyon rebuffed their attempts to recall Emerson Palmieri from his season-long loan.

Kurzawa has played 153 games for PSG since joining from Monaco in 2015 but has fallen out of favour and has not made one Ligue 1 appearance this season under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Frenchman played regularly under Tuchel and RMC Sport report that talks have begun over a loan deal for the rest of the season.

Chelsea turned their attention to Kurzawa after failing to recall Palmieri from his season-long loan at Lyon. The European champions could not reach a compensation agreement with the French side.

Tuchel had considered Everton’s Lucas Digne but did not want to bloat his squad with another permanent signing.

Digne subsequently joined Aston Villa.

Marco Alonso played at left wing-back on Saturday as Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City, seemingly inflicting a lethal blow to their Premier League title hopes.

The victory saw City go 13 points clear of the Blues, with a goal difference 13 superior, to boot.
