A fitness coach has recounted the embarrassing moment she was told she had a ‘belly bulge’ by another model while on a photoshoot.

Emily Skye, from the Gold Coast, took to Instagram to share the moment she was told ‘fitness models don’t have belly fat’ while she was eating lunch on a photoshoot back in 2013.

‘After the girl said that I didn’t finish eating my lunch because I freaked out and felt extremely insecure for the rest of the shoot,’ the 36-year-old mum-of-two wrote in the caption.

Emily said that comment made her become ‘obsessed’ with trying to get rid of her ‘stubborn belly fat’.

‘No matter what I did I couldn’t get rid of it. I was super lean, had visible abs and yet the lower part of my belly stuck out a little,’ she said.

Emily’s post included a picture of her lean figure from 2013 when the mean model made the jab along with a video of her telling her 2.5million followers that it is normal to not to have a flat stomach.

‘It’s that time of the month and I get very bloated – a lot of retention and cramps that come along with it – aren’t we lucky, us women?’ she said in the clip while showing her protruding stomach.

‘I just wanted to share this to show you that is it normal  – I get it, most women get it so if you have bloating or anything like that know that it’s normal and don’t worry about it.’

‘We’re beautiful the way we are bloated or not,’ Emily finished.

The body confident queen reminded her legions of fans that it is natural for women not to have a flat lower tummy ‘because we have a uterus, we have other essential organs and we have some essential fat to protect our reproductive system’.

‘Your body is amazing just as is it – EVEN when you’re bloated!! It’s keeping you alive!’ she wrote.

Commenters were quick to praise Emily’s inspiring message and share their shock at her colleague’s remark.

‘What an idiot she was! And how damaging that can be to someone too.. since you’re the one rocking it as a supermodel, I think you’re the one we’ll be listening to!’ one woman wrote.

‘This is such a good message! I’ll be more accepting of my body because of it. Thank you, Emily!’ said a second.

‘Thank you!! I was just checking today my lower belly and thought of ways how could I get rid of it/make it smaller. After reading your post, I feel much better! Will just pull high-waist jeans instead!’ commented a third.
