Ariana DeBose responds to an online commentator who criticized her Saturday Night Live opening monologue: ‘You’re a troll’
Ariana DeBose took the time to respond to an Instagram ‘troll’ who took issue with her recent Saturday Night Live debut.
After the official SNL Instagram account posted her opening monologue, someone in the comments pointed out that the Broadway star made a mistake when she said, ‘2020 has already been an exciting year.’
‘She know it’s 2022 not 2020 right????’ the critic wrote, to which the 30-year-old actress replied, ‘You try hosting SNL, reading cue cards with slight dislexia [sic] and then get back to me brah.’

The commentator didn’t back down, and replied, ‘Maybe get someone who isn’t on level with Joe Biden at reading since that’s a qualification to acting…reading lines.’
DeBose didn’t take kindly to the criticism, responding, ‘Cool. You’re a troll. Bye.’
Though she battled some criticism, the overall response to her performance has been positive for the most part.

Writer Julissa Natzely Arce Raya stepped into the comments writing, ‘I thought it was part of the joke! Because you know it’s like 2020 all over again!’ and adding, ‘Forget the haters! You were amazing!!!!’
Meanwhile SNL veteran Kenan Thompson wrote, ‘Destroyed it !!!!’
DeBose made her debut by singing a handful of West Side Story songs with Kate McKinnon.
