Gloucestershire Live previously reported on a separate incident of a phantom door knocker in a different area of Stroud who left the victim scared to sleep.

At the time, officers issued a community alert and asked residents to speak to them if they saw anything unusual.

The alert issued in June read: ‘The resident is too frightened to answer the door and too frightened to sleep and hopes that they will just go away.

‘We are seeking information from residents who might see anyone which is out of the ordinary and acting suspicious, a description, direction of travel and if they are using a car.’

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said of the latest incident:  ‘A member of the public approached their local Neighbourhood Engagement Vehicle and reported that an unknown man had been ringing their doorbell in the night then walking away.

‘They reported that these incidents have gone on at their home address at London Road, Stroud, for a number of months and sometimes multiple times in one night.

‘Police are appealing for the public’s help to identify the man who’s been photographed by the electronic doorbell.
