Mia Tindall playfully kicked her dad Mike Tindall today as she watched him captain a football team for a charity game in Gloucester.

Zara Tindall’s daughter, eight, who yesterday joined her mother for Cheltenham’s Festival Trial, opted for a pretty amber face paint, cosy jacket and jeans to watch her sporting father play.

Mike, 43, is a former rugby union international who also played outside centre for Bath and Gloucester. Today he came out of retirement for the Rugby For Heroes team against a Gloucester City Legends team, which raised money to support military veterans.

Little Mia, who is 22nd in line to the throne, is the eldest of Mike and Zara’s three children, Princess Anne’s granddaughter  and a big sister to Lena, three, and Lucas, 10 months.

The daddy-daughter day out comes just a day after Mia spent the day with Zara, 40.

The Queen’s granddaughter opted for a mid-length maroon coat for the occasion, which she paired with a pair of black heeled boots and a matching handbag.

She cuddled up with eight-year-old Mia during the outing, with her eldest daughter opting for a sparkly black dress for the occasion.

It comes as Mike joked about being the ‘ugly’ host of his rugby podcast when he appeared on This Morning to discuss his show’s upcoming tour.

The former English rugby player presents The Good, the Bad, and the Rugby alongside former teammate James Haskell and TV presenter Alex Payne.

Mike is set to take the podcast on a UK tour with James and Alex. He and James were invited onto This Morning to promote the upcoming tour, as well as discuss why they often discuss non-rugby topics like mental health and family.

‘The best thing about the podcast is that it’s about rugby but we don’t really talk about rugby,’ said Mike, who added that they get ‘into the mental health side’.

He explained: ‘For people who finish rugby and are transitioning into civilian life…you’re going to have to go [and] find another job, and that generally means you’re starting at the bottom again.

Last year, Zara described how riding for her country is what ‘dreams are made of’ and how she is lucky to have her horses with her in lockdown.
