A hot-headed Carlos Queiroz was sent off in the closing stages of normal time in Egypt’s African Cup of Nations clash against Cameroon, after furiously claiming to the referee that one of his players was punched.
With the scores locked level and the clock ticking towards 90 minutes, an incident between Ramadan Sobhi and Nouhou Tolo saw tempers flare – sparking Queiroz to angrily protest on the touchline before being dismissed.
The veteran manager was initially shown a yellow card on 87 minutes, having complained to the linesman, and was banished away from the pitch after picking up another caution just a matter of minutes later.

Following Sobhi and Tolo’s coming-together, the cameras quickly cut to footage of Queiroz, 68, having to be pulled away from the match officials by his assistant.
Pitchside microphones appeared to pick up his shouts, as he pleaded to the man in the middle, Bakary Gassama, that his forward was struck by his opponent.
Replays did not appear to show contact, however, and Queiroz was shown a red card, meaning that he will now miss the final.

Eventually, the veteran tactician was ushered away from the touchline following the red card
Despite him continuing to argue against the decision, the tactician was eventually steered away from the flashpoint, with one of his backroom staff calming him down.
Queiroz’s assistant, Roger De Sa, was almost made to suffer the same fate – but was only handed a yellow card shortly after the manager was punished for dissent.
Notably, the man at the helm was seen regularly questioning the referee’s choices throughout the clash.
Meanwhile, it was sensationally revealed after his red card that no Egypt player has received more cards at the tournament than their manager, who now has three.
