Ex-Manchester United academy star Angel Gomes is left STUNNED as superstar Lionel Messi asks for his shirt in the tunnel after PSG sealed a huge victory over Ligue 1 rivals Lille

Lille midfielder Angel Gomes was left stunned as superstar and seven time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi asked to swap shirts with the youngster following PSG’s 5-1 victory on Sunday.

Messi and Kylian Mbappe both netted in the huge win as well as a brace from Portuguese midfielder Danilo and Presnel Kimpembe also got his name on the scoresheet.  

Sven Botman had equalised for mid-table Lille in the first half, but it was short as the French giants ran riot and moved 13 points clear at the top of Ligue One.

It was just Messi’s second league goal since moving to France from Spanish side Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer.

The Argentinian international offered up his jersey for the 21-year-old while walking down the tunnel after the match.

Initially, it looked like Gomes expected the 34-year-old to hand over the number 10 shirt and walk off.

Former Manchester United midfielder Gomes has enjoyed a strong start to the season at Lille

The former Manchester United man Gomes, who left the Red Devils in the summer of 2020, looked momentarily stunned before he obliged by taking his shirt off and handing it over after the Barcelona icon gestured for his shirt in return.

The pair hugged after exchanging shirts. 

Gomes spent 14 years in Manchester after joining the club aged six, before joining Lille, where he was immediately loaned out to Portuguese club Boavista in a bid to pick up valuable first-team experience.

He flourished in the Primeira Liga and this season, he has made 16 appearances for Les Dogues after returning from Portugal.
