Now, New England Revolution have confirmed the move on the club’s official website.

‘The New England Revolution have agreed to terms for goalkeeper Matt Turner to join Arsenal of the English Premier League in a summer transfer for an undisclosed fee pending completion of a medical,’ a statement read.

‘Turner, the 2021 Allstate MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, is expected to join Arsenal in late June 2022.’

The Gunners reportedly agreed a fee of £7.5million including add-ons at the end of last month for the New Jersey native.

But the US international will remain stateside for the first half of the MLS season and the Revs’ Concacaf Champions League campaign.

Turner joined New England Revolution in 2016 from Jersey Express. He has 13 caps to his name for his country, starting in all six of their games at the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and made 28 appearances for his club last year too.

As a result, the USA international will relish the challenge of being Aaron Ramsdale’s understudy at Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Leno is expected to leave Arsenal with Newcastle among the clubs to have expressed an interest in the German.
