He’s one of the UK’s most iconic rock stars and is known for his outspoken personality.

And Liam Gallagher, 49, wasn’t afraid to give his opinion on Taylor Swift’s row with Damon Albarn in a recent interview with NME about his new album C’mon You Know.

The former Oasis frontman backed the American singer, 32, saying ‘she does write her songs’ and that the Blur musician, 53, ‘won’t be saying that again in a hurry’.

Don’t look back in anger: Liam Gallagher, 49, wasn’t afraid to give his opinion on Taylor Swift’s row with Damon Albarn in a recent interview with NME about his new album C’mon You Know

Taylor shut down Damon’s claims that she does not write her own music, which he alleged in a recent interview with the LA Times.

When asked if co-writing isn’t ‘real’ songwriting, the Gallagher brother said: ‘Says who? All them f***ing gorilla albums are co-writes aren’t they? I get it – Noel bangs on about it as well: ”I’m more important than you because I write my f***ing songs”.

‘As much as you’ve had a decent life and a mad life, sometimes it can be hard to pin down what you want to f***ing say and some people can bring it out of you a bit better.

‘Well, he won’t be saying that again in a hurry, though, will he? Did he not get ran out of f***ing town by the Swifters? I think [Taylor’s] f***ing cool, man. She does write her songs and I’m sure she’s co-wrote with people.’

‘I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this,’ Swift tweeted at the end of January. ‘I write all of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and so damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really f***** up to try and discredit my writing. Wow.’

‘PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering,’ Swift, who is world-famous for her heartfelt and evocative lyrics, added.

Her response came after Albarn stated the pop singer ‘doesn’t write her own songs’ and relies on the aid of co-writers during an LA Times interview.

After pop music critic Mikael Wood praised Swift’s songwriting abilities, Albarn aired his belief that ‘co-writing is very different to writing.’

‘I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes. Doesn’t mean that the outcome can’t be really great,’ he told the outlet.

Albarn – who has written all his own songs as a solo artist and for bands Blur and Gorillaz – later apologized, claiming his comment had been ‘taken out of context and used as clickbait.’
