A hairdresser has revealed she can tell a lot about mums and their parenting style by the way they act when their kids are in for a trim.
The stylist, Sarah, posted a video series on TikTok pointing out the ‘different types’ of mums who come through her doors.
From tired mums to helicopter parents and those with exceedingly high expectations, the hair stylist who posts under ‘kissmeormissme’ appears to have them all worked out.
The three-part series begins with the tired mum who declares: ‘Chop it all of, I don’t care,’ mid-yawn.
The next mum in the series, the one with ‘unrealistic expectations’, couldn’t be more different.
They often beginning appointments by saying ‘he is only two years old so we don’t need anything too crazy’ only to make a long list of requests.
‘But I was thinking a zero fade, high and tight with a hard part right here.
‘And I want everything to be perfectly blended and look amazing without any product.’
Some mums want too much from their hairdresser – expecting their toddlers to walk out of the salon looking like celebrities
The third mum is the helicopter mum who gets in the way of the salon staff because they need to hover inches away from their child at all times.
But it is the fourth mum that terrifies the stylist most – the ‘silent but intimidating’ mum.
The woman does her best impression of the ‘scary’ mum by folding her arms and glaring in the direction of her child.
When asked if she would be ‘more comfortable’ sitting somewhere else she simply responds: ‘I am fine right here and continues to glare from afar’.
The next mum causes chaos by bringing all of her children to the salon, letting them run wild, while one gets a new do.
She hops on the phone to demonstrate this mum who idly chats to her friends instead of making sure her kids are well behaved.
‘Jimmy needs a haircut but I thought I would bring all three so I didn’t have to get a baby sitter,’ she says into the phone as her children are heard squealing through the salon.
Others identified in the series include the ‘thrifty mum’ who tries to pretend her teenagers qualify for the children’s cut to save $20 and the shopaholic who buys every product.
The ‘threatening mum also makes an appearance – warning her child not to move or risk having their ear chopped off.
The controlling mum who rejects any haircut ideas including bangs or bob-cuts from her teenagers because she likes their hair a certain way.
And the videos appeared to resonate with parent on the video-sharing platform – many whom admitted to being one of the ‘types’ described.
Some parents hover close to their children, getting in the way, while others look on in a ‘silent but intimidating’ manner
‘I am the silent and intimidating type but it is only because I have social anxiety,’ one mum said.
Professionals said the descriptions gave them ‘flash backs’ of their years working with children and their parents.
‘This is far too real, I loved the rare parents who just sat on their phones and let me do my job.’
Sarah has 20million likes on the platform where she describes moments in time at her salon including the chaos before big events and the interesting people who come through her door.
