Each episode will see two teams of five friends compete against each other in a series of challenges to bag themselves a holiday.

The publication reports that Alison and Vernon will serve as hosts of the show while Maisie will captain one of the teams.

A source said: ‘Maisie has just filmed a pilot episode and it’s unclear if it’ll air but it’s a great sign she’s landing these kind of shows after Strictly and EastEnders.

‘Everyone thought she was really great on the show – she’s so naturally funny – so it’ll be the first of many new jobs.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Maisie Smith, Alison Hammond and Vernon Kay for comment.

A representative for the BBC declined to comment.

Friends Like These originally aired on the BBC from 1999 to 2003 with Ant and Dec hosting for the first two years, with Ian Wright later taking over.

The gig would be Maisie’s most high profile since she competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020.

The actress, who left her EastEnders role of beloved Tiffany Butcher back in December after 13 years, has recently been confirmed to be returning.

In the coming weeks Maisie will appear in one episode, as part of her on screen husband Keegan Butcher-Baker, played by Zack Morris’ exit story.

The couple’s marriage initially fell apart after Keegan cheated on Tiffany. However her brother Liam then cruelly intervened to prevent the pair from reconciling.

In the first look images of Tiffany’s return, she can be seen sitting beside Keegan on Arthur’s bench.

Both looking sombre, Tiffany reaches out and takes her ex husband’s hand in a supportive gesture.

Actor Zack confirmed in February that he would be leaving the role of Keegan, with his final scenes airing this spring.

‘After five beautiful years on this incredible show, I have made the tough decision to leave Walford and give Keegan Butcher-Baker some well-earned rest,’ he told Digital Spy.
