Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson reveal why they’re voting for Scott Morrison

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson have revealed they will be voting for Prime Minister Scott Morrison when polls open for the 2022 federal election.

The KIIS FM radio presenters threw their support behind the Liberal leader after interviewing him on Tuesday’s Kyle and Jackie O Show.

‘I feel safe with him. I didn’t even like him at first… now I feel very safe with him,’ Sandilands, who counts Morrison as friend, declared after speaking to the PM about Australia’s involvement in the war between Russia and Ukraine.

‘Like, when the world’s in s**t, I like to keep with experienced people that actually know what’s going on,’ the right-leaning radio announcer added.

Henderson replied: ‘That’s why when it comes to elections, Kyle, politicians don’t mind the idea of a possible war breaking out because [voters] do like to stay with the one in charge.’

When asked who she plans to vote for in the next election, Jackie promptly replied: ‘I’ll be voting for Scott.’

‘Me too. I’m voting for ScoMo,’ Sandilands responded, adding that he’ll still invite opposition leader Anthony Albanese on the show as a guest.

KIIS FM newsreader Brooklyn Ross disagreed with the hosts, saying he wouldn’t vote for Morrison because of his ‘climate change record’.

‘That’s something very important to me. [Morrison] just basically laughed at it for years and years [before taking it seriously],’ Ross said.

Good timing? Henderson said, 'Why when it comes to elections, Kyle, politicians don't mind the idea of a possible war breaking out because [voters] do like to stay with the one in charge'

Morrison made his first-ever appearance on Kyle and Jackie O in July last year, after previously refusing interview requests since taking office in August 2018.

Henderson wasted no time addressing the elephant in the room during the PM’s debut interview, asking why he’d snubbed Sydney’s most popular FM breakfast show during his first three years as the country’s leader.

‘Can I ask, Prime Minister, why have you never come on our show?’ she asked.

‘Well, I was waiting for you to be number one,’ Morrison cheekily replied, referring to the KIIS 106.5 duo’s recent ratings victory over 2GB’s Ben Fordham – which saw them become No. 1 across both AM and FM bandwidths for the first time.

Sandilands exploded in laughter, and said: ‘He’s got us there! He didn’t want to go on with any losers, I get that.’

‘Congratulations,’ Mr Morrison replied.

Henderson wasn’t sold on Mr Morrison’s response, however, noting that he’d made appearances on less popular FM breakfast shows in the past.

Proving himself the consummate politician, Mr Morrison deftly side-stepped the question by changing the topic.

‘Well, here we are, and we’re in the middle of pandemic and I think it’s really important that I take every opportunity… to encourage people through this,’ he said.

Furious: Morrison’s debut on The Kyle and Jackie O Show came a year after Sandilands branded him a ‘scaredy cat’ for refusing to appear on his radio program

Morrison’s debut on The Kyle and Jackie O Show came a year after Sandilands branded him a ‘scaredy cat’ for refusing to appear on his radio program.

At the time, the shock jock announced he would donate $30,000 to charity if the PM called in before 8.30am, but it was radio silence from Mr Morrison’s end.

‘This guy’s a scaredy cat,’ Sandilands remarked. ‘Why won’t you come on here?’

Sandilands had previously called Mr Morrison a variety of colourful names, including ‘gronk’, ‘p***y’, ‘a slob’, ‘white and wobbly’, as well as a ‘gutless little toad’.
