‘What kind of maniac doesn’t care WHERE they live?’ Viewers slam Perfect House, Secret Location

Viewers slammed Perfect House, Secret Location for showing a couple properties that were a ‘downgrade’ on their ‘gorgeous’ current home.

Ronnie and Ahmed, from County Durham,   were on the second episode of the programme tonight, as they joined presenter Steve Jones on the hunt for their dream home.

However, the twist of the show saw the couple agreeing to get in the back of a blacked out van to be whisked off to four different dream properties in secret locations, which weren’t revealed until the end of the show.

Ronnie and Ahmed viewed four properties on the programme, including a marina-fronted apartment and a Georgian townhouse – yet viewers were left unimpressed by the offering.

Many confessed they actually preferred the couple’s current home, a stunning detached four-bedroom property in Hartlepool, to the ones featured on the show.

One commented: ‘All three houses are a big downgrade!’

Another wrote: ‘The house they are already in is gorgeous.’

A third added: ‘Don’t even know these two guys and even I can tell that “penthouse” wasn’t their cup of tea.’

Meanwhile others questioned the very concept of the show, with one saying: ‘The programme should feature people with a small/tight budget that a new location could offer a ton more for their money.’

Married for 14 years, Ronnie and Ahmed, from County Durham, began the programme living in a detached four-bedroom house in Hartlepool.

Doctor Ahmed and dance teacher Ronnie, and their highly trained pooch George, had a budget of £625,000. However, the problem was they wanted very different things from their home.

Ahmed said he liked ‘cities and cafe culture’ while Ronnie said he wanted ‘a modern thatched cottage’ which wasn’t ‘massive’.

Ronnie said: ‘We do disagree on lots of different things don’t we?’

However they did agree they wanted something smaller than their current property, with a large garden, a lively community and plenty of waggle room for their dog.

The first property the couple were shown was a modern apartment with a private balcony looking out onto the marina in Plymouth. There was also a dog friendly garden for George the doodle.

Ronnie immediately said it wasn’t what he wanted, adding: ‘I wanted a thatched cottage!’

At £600,000, the three-bedroom apartment had two bathrooms and an open plan kitchen living room with a stunning view.

The couple confessed they ‘loved the view’ and how ‘light and airy’ it was, but Ronnie said: ‘I personally think it’s a bit small.’

The second property the couple saw was a £600,000 mid-18th century Grade II listed thatched cottage in Marlborough.

The cottage had been modernised but kept most of it’s 18th century character, with three large double bedrooms, a home office big enough Ahmed’s work as a doctor.

They immediately said they ‘could imagine living’ in the property, with Ahmed saying: ‘It’s very smart and nice and bright and airy.’

Ahmed added: ‘I’m struggling a bit to imagine if we invited people over. But I wasn’t expecting it to be so light and bright.’

But Ronnie said he was finding the idea of downsizing difficult.

The next property was a Grade II listed period townhouse, which was stone built and set in a quiet muse.

With a courtyard garden for the dog and a seating area for entertaining guests, the couple wondered if they were in the heart of a city.

The £594,000 house, which was in Bristol’s Clifton village, had three bedrooms and a nice contemporary kitchen. However the couple said they felt the lack of the garden was ‘a big negative.’

Ronnie added: ‘I’ll be quite upset if there isn’t somewhere to walk George.’

The final home was a 110-year-old converted barn, which had ‘everything on Ronnie and Ahmed’s  wish-list’.

With an upstairs extension, it had three bedrooms, three bathrooms and an incredible open-plan living space which got the couple excited.

While Ronnie called the home ‘spectacular’, Ahmed said: ‘I am blown away! There’s nothing I don’t like about this and lots I absolutely love.’

He added: ‘I really don’t mind where we are – I have fallen in love with this place.’

The £645,000 property was in Ashburton, with the couple confessing they had ‘already mentally moved in’ after viewing it once.

Sitting down with Steve, the couple quickly ruled out the thatched cottage and the penthouse apartment.

And while they said they would consider the period townhouse, they confessed their heart was set on the cottage.

As Steve revealed it’s location, Ronnie said: ‘That would be perfect for work if you are are in Exeter.’

Ahmed confessed: ‘I’m still a little bit shocked that the townhouse is in Clifton – it’s an option I hadn’t really considered.’

They returned to visit both the period townhouse and the cottage, with Ahmed saying: ‘I can genuinely say I have no idea which we’ll go for.’

But after they went to revisit the properties, with Ronnie saying they ‘absolutely loved’ the stone cottage.

But having put an offer in to the house, they were left gutted after they lost out on the lovely stone property.
