PSG join Barcelona in the chase for Raphinha… but Leeds are unlikely to budge from £60m price

PSG join Barcelona in the chase for Leeds ace Raphinha as they look ahead to life without soon-to-be free agent Kylian Mbappe… but the Premier League side look unlikely to budge from £60m asking price

  • Paris Saint-Germain are the latest club to monitor Leeds winger Raphinha
  • Barcelona are also interested in him but Leeds’ asking price may harm the deal
  • PSG’s shortlist includes Wolves’ Pedro Neto as well as Ousmane Dembele
  • Leeds are braced to lose a number of players including Raphinha this summer

Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring developments with Leeds United winger Raphinha.

The Brazilian is high on Barcelona’s wishlist and has expressed a desire to join the Spanish giants. His agent Deco also works as a scout for Barca and is understood to have held talks with them regarding a potential summer move.

However, Barca’s financial constraints mean a transfer is not straight forward.

Raphinha is understood to have a trigger clause of around £25m in his contract should Leeds go down but that is unlikely to come into play on current results. Leeds would want £60m for their prized 25-year-old winger and, while they may not achieve that figure, it could be enough to pull him out of Barcelona’s reach.

PSG have also taken an interest though and have added him to their shortlist for the summer which includes Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele and Wolves’ Pedro Neto, who has just returned from a broken kneecap and signed a new contract.

Raphinha’s current contract ends in two years, having signed a four-year deal when he joined from Rennes in 2020.

Leeds are braced to lose players this summer with Raphinha, Kalvin Phillips and goalkeeper Ilian Mesler all attracting interest from top clubs.

They are actively looking for replacements for Raphinha and have been in the market for midfielders since last summer. They also want cover at full-back.

Red Bull Salzburg’s USA international midfielder Brenden Aaronson remains a target after they had a £21m bid rejected in January.
