Cristiano Ronaldo ‘set to miss out on £5million worth of bonuses’

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘is set to miss out on £5MILLION in bonuses’ after Man United went without a trophy for a fifth successive season… with superstar having re-joined on a deal with incentives to make up for a wage cut

  • Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss out on £5million worth of bonuses at Man United
  • The 37-year-old returned to Old Trafford on a bonus-related deal last summer
  • The Red Devils will finish without a trophy for the fifth successive season

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss out on £5million worth in bonuses due to Manchester United’s disaster trophyless season, according to reports.

The Portuguese superstar returned to Old Trafford last summer on a bonus-related contract to offset a drop in his £750,000 a week wages at Juventus.

But the 37-year-old will earn significantly less than expected, after the Red Devils beat rivals Manchester City to his signature.

The Red Devils will finish without a trophy for a fifth successive season – wiping out most of his incentives, according to the Sun.

Ronaldo would have earned around £2.5m if United had reached the Champions League final in May, it is believed.

Winning a first Premier League title since 2013 for United was also worth up to £1.5m.

Collapses in both domestic cup competitions was another blow, meanwhile.

Missing out on finishing in the top four could be even more devastating for him, considering his basic wage is around half the amount he was earning in Italy.

Ronaldo will, however, still a trigger a big bonus if he finishes as the club’s top goalscorer this campaign.

The former Real Madrid forward leads the way with 18 goals from 33 appearances in all competition – with fellow countryman Bruno Fernandes the closest behind him with just nine goals to his name.

For now, the forward will be focused on securing Qatar 2022 World Cup qualification for Portugal during the international break.
