  • They used bargain buys from Facebook Market place to finish the front space
  • The couple self installed travertine tiles and a rock feature wall to save money
  • Then they painted the front of the house, added minimalistic plants and decor

A young woman has revealed hos she and her husband completely transformed the front of their first home using second-hand materials destined for the dump.

Jannah from Caloundra, Queensland, said she trawled Facebook marketplace to make redecorating their home’s worn-out facade affordable.

The couple turned their drab, uninviting entrance into a chic masterpiece by using the ‘less is more mantra’ and removing their plants, wooden walkway and pond.

Jannah, picked up the travertine tiles from Facebook Marketplace as they were  leftovers from a big renovation project and says they were the ‘best bargain ever’.

The couple laid the tiles themselves with tile glue and ‘great patience’ according to Jannah, as they didn’t want to pay for professional installation.

‘It would have cost $5000 to pay them to install. That was not an option for us,’ she wrote.

The couple also self installed the effective, yet minimalistic quartz and limestone rock wall to add a feature element to the front area.

The ‘Linosa’ rocks came attached with a flat back surface that Jannah and her husband lathered with tile glue and stuck firmly onto the side of the wall.

They painted the exterior walls and window frames with the shades ‘snowy mountain half’ and ‘sunmist’, then sanded back the front door ready for paint.

Matching paint was applied to the front door and decorative features were added such as pebbles, a row of Mother’s In Law Tongue, pot plants and a bench seat.
