Sunrise: Samantha Armytage’s brutal response to Instagram troll

Samantha Armytage offers a BRUTAL response to a troll who said ‘intelligent Australians’ would never watch Sunrise

She quit Sunrise in March last year and is now living a quiet life in the Southern Highlands with her husband, Richard Lavender.

But Samantha Armytage revealed on Monday she still gets trolled because she used to host the Channel Seven breakfast show – some 13 months after her departure.

The 45-year-old offered a scathing response to an anonymous Instagram troll who said ‘intelligent Australians’ choose to watch ABC News Breakfast over Sunrise or Channel Nine’s Today show.

‘Yourself and the rest of the Sunrise and Today show teams is the reason why myself and other intelligent Australians choose to watch ABC News Breakfast. Less bulls**t and overreacting,’ read the grammatically garbed comment.

Sam responded: ‘Dear Sir, thx for taking the time to message me, but I haven’t been part of the show for over 13 months (obvs, you’ve been watching closely).

‘In that time, I have enjoyed a bit of peace and quiet from anonymous fools like you. Have a great week, Sam.’

Clapback: In response to the comment, Sam wrote: 'Thanks for taking the time to message me, but I haven't been part of the show for over 13 months (obvs, you've been watching closely)'

She concluded: ‘PS. Your intelligence shines through in your wonderful grammar. And first-class prose.’

Sam added: ‘I usually ignore anonymous fools, but this was toooo good.’

The former Sunrise anchor has been enjoying a quieter life in the countryside since quitting Sunrise in March 2021.

Before her exit, she had sold her North Bondi home for $2.8million in July 2020.
