Recipe: How to make a gin martini

 Method:

  1. Combine gin with dry vermouth.
  2. Shake or stir the drink as desired, shaken will give the drink a cool temperature and stirred will give the drink a silky texture.
  3. Pour the cocktail into a martini glass.
  4. Choose a garnish to sit on top, olives and pickled onions will create a savoury flavour and fruit will create a fresher, sweeter flavour.
  5. Top the classic cocktail off with good quality fresh ice and enjoy.

Martini making tips:

  • Chill the martini glass before pouring the drink inside to serve.
  • Keep a bottle of gin in the freezer for a cool beverage on hand.
  • Vermouth needs to be fresh and refrigerated or it will oxidise once it has been opened.

To make a martini first combine your favourite gin and fresh dry vermouth, then shake or stir the drink as desired.

Tim then says to pour the drink into a glass and to garnish with either lemon, grapefruit, olives or pickled onions and fresh ice.

He says that martinis are one of, if not, the hardest cocktail to master and encourages all who are over the age of 18 to try and make the classic drink at home.
