Jamie Carragher believes the Everton job was a tougher one for Carlo Ancelotti than Real Madrid.

The Italian’s one full season with Everton started very well but tailed off with the Toffees ultimately finishing 10th.

Jamie Carragher believes Carlo Ancelotti found managing Everton tougher than Real Madrid

He won the champions League in his first spell at Madrid and has been a success so far in his second.

Los Blancos sit 12 points clear at the top of La Liga and beat Chelsea 3-1 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.

Speaking on CBS Sports, Carragher said: ‘He’s a manager who suited more than anything to having the top players.

‘Maybe at Everton you’ve got to work more with the players. You haven’t got the great players. You may have to change things, coach more, give them more information.

‘I spoke to Frank Lampard and John Terry (who he managed at Chelsea). They love him. Not as a great tactician, they loved him as a guy. every club he’s been at I think he just suits having the big stars.’
