Family first! Campbell Hatton cheers dad Ricky up as 21-year-old stretches unbeaten pro record with comfortable points win after The Hitman missed Man City’s FA Cup semi-final loss to Liverpool to watch his son’s bout

Campbell Hatton maintained his unbeaten professional boxing record with a dominant points win to raise the spirits of dad Ricky.

Ricky ‘the Hitman’, one of the most popular British boxers of all time and a well-known Manchester City fan, missed his side’s 3-2 FA Cup semi-final loss against Liverpool at Wembley on Saturday to watch Campbell in Manchester.

And his son now has a 7-0 record from his fledgling career after beating Ezequiel Gregores 60-54 on points in a six-round clash.

Campbell, who won his first four fights on points before two knockouts, was gifted a highly controversial points win against Uruguayan Sonni Martinez in September.

However, this proved a thoroughly deserved victory – despite a few scares – against a durable and streetwise opponent who has never been stopped in his nine career losses.

‘Hurricane’ Hatton Jr started fast, hitting Argentine Gregores with lots of shots early on, particularly aiming some spiteful body shots.

Continuing on the front foot in the second round, 5’6″ lightweight Hatton copped some shots back in return.

His brave, brash, entertaining stand-and-deliver style might endear him to fans but could cause trainer Matthew, also his uncle, some concern if and when he fights harder hitters in future.

But the 21-year-old is early in his career and looks to have a promising future if he continues this rate of improvement in future fights.
