Jessica Mauboy breaks down in tears on The Voice Australia after singer’s emotional performance

Jessica Mauboy broke down on Monday’s episode of The Voice Australia. 

The singer was moved to tears after a contestant revealed she had sung a moving song for her mother. 

Faith Sosene, 24, launched into a beautiful version of Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion, and Jess, 32, couldn’t contain herself. 

‘Faith, may I ask you, who are you singing this song for?’ Jessica asked. 

‘My beautiful mum ‘My mum has shown the most sacrificial love I have seen in my whole life,’ Faith said. 

‘These lyrics really embody that, so this song is really important to me’. 

‘Well, Faith, that was just unbelievable to be honest,’ Jess said, immediately looking emotional. 

‘You really moved every single person in this room, and the rest of Australia. I turned instantly because of that power in your voice, and when I turned around, you had your hand out, and I realised you were singing to your mum,’ she went on.  

‘It  just kind of struck me, and hearing you say that and how your mum had sacrificed everything for you – ‘ she added, before pausing, breaking down in tears. 

‘Instantly I totally understood that story. I love my mum, and she has done so much for me and my family,’ the pop star continued. 

‘But she has been completely the rock, and she has stood strong and just undeniable and with grace, she will just seize the day’. 

The former Australian Idol star said she was ‘honoured’ to hear the performance. 

It then came time for Faith to pick her coach – and she instantly chose Jessica, despite a passionate pitch from Rita Ora.
