A woman who made headlines after a video of her getting stuck behind a sofa went viral has revealed how bystanders suggested calling the fire brigade in a desperate bid to set her free.

Lindsey Clark, from North Shields, appeared on This Mornig today after being filmed falling behind the seat when she tried to retrieve her friend’s coat at the end of a celebratory birthday bottomless brunch last weekend.

The 40-year-old had been celebrating the 47th birthday of her friend Julie Jackson at the TwelveTwentyFive restaurant in the North Tyneside town.

Instead of helping, her friends seized the opportunity to record the unexpected moment, leaving restaurant staff to save her.

A now viral video of the incident, which has garnered thousands of likes on Facebook, shows Lindsay’s legs and feet sticking out from the corner of the dining room, after falling in trying to reach down to grab the jacket.

After a battle that involved tugging on her shins, the 40-year-old was eventually placed back on the sofa, fortunately smiling.

In an interview with Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on This Morning today, she discussed how  staff were forced to rescue her from her predicament – but not before suggesting the emergency services were called.

The programme’s hosts, who laughed at the clip, and said ‘everyone’ has been talking about it, asked her about the hilarious incident.

Phil noted that someone had suggested the fire brigade was called, and asked Lindsey how she felt when she heard that suggestion.

She replied: ‘I said to the [two restaurant staff], “That’s it, get us out now,”.

‘I could not have that, I would have been mortified. That would have been even more embarrassing.’

Speaking about how she felt after the clip went viral, Lindsey added: ‘It’s just mental. I mean, it is funny, but I didn’t realise that it was going to be that funny.

‘I always put stupid things on Facebook…I’m happy it’s [gone] viral if people think it’s funny.’

Twitter users had mixed feelings on the clip - with one saying they would never be able to leave the house again if this happened to them, but others suggesting it was a common occurence
